Event Description
Join us to explore some of the retrofit measures appropriate for traditional buildings; those that improve energy efficiency whilst maintaining their fabric and allowing materials to function as they should. Our experts will share learning on common retrofit options that have been trialled in projects throughout Scotland.
It is fitting that the home of Scotland’s first dedicated building conservation centre is a retrofitted traditional building. The Engine Shed uses traditional materials in a contemporary and energy efficient way.
We are now a dynamic hub of digital innovation, heritage science, and an accredited training centre specialising in support for the sector, with advice and guidance for those who look after traditional buildings in Scotland.
Explore scientific techniques and labs which help us maintain and protect our traditional buildings and historic environment. See the digital resources we use, including a giant 3D printer, a Digital Imaging Lab and ‘The Howff’ our cutting-edge immersive hub. You can also learn about the traditional skills vital to protecting Scotland’s buildings and monuments.
