Digital Documentation and Innovation

About the team

The Digital Documentation and Innovation team's work feeds directly into the care of Historic Environment Scotland sites and collections. We use cutting edge digital technologies to document heritage in 3D and create data that informs conservation and heritage management decisions, learning and interpretation.

Our team helps others to build capacity in digital heritage, by delivering training programmes, community engagement and outreach. We also advise the heritage sector more widely, with active research and collaborative research projects with strong practical applications.

A crucial area of our remit is scoping cutting edge developments in digital technologies that can be adopted to create positive impact. We use the 3D data collected to create new and innovative outputs for the heritage sector and beyond.
